Project Description

MEET THE OLOO-WERE FAMILY

Gordon Oloo-Were was a husband to Magdalene Oloo-Were and together they had six children, Christine Masawa, Augustinoh Kakinda, Maurice O. Ndole, Samuel Jalang’o, John Paul Otollo and Joseph Oloo.

Based in Fresno Ca, the Oloo-Were family created the GOW Foundation to continue providing support to Kenyan student Oloo-Were provided support to while he was still alive.

Joseph, the last born in the family, and President of GOW Foundation, took the lead in laying the groundwork for registering GOW Foundation as a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization in California. His hard work led to the formation of the Foundation and work began in finding students in need and providing them with the financial support to complete their high school education.

The Oloo-Were spouses, George Masawa, Mary Ndole, Jennifer Jalango, Jane Otolo and Brandy Oloo have also played an instrumental role in making sure the organization achieves it’s objectives. Every year, the spouses have played a key role in organizing the GOW Annual Fundraiser, a culminating event that brings together members of the community to join the Oloo-Were family for the common noble purpose of spreading the gift of education.

The leadership of GOW Foundation is as follows:

  • Joseph Oloo-President
  • Maurice O. Ndole – Vice President
  • Christine Masawa-Community Liaison, Kenya
  • Augustinho Kakinda – Chief Financial Officer
  • Samuel Jalang’o- Secretary
  • Magdalene Oloo-Were – Board Member

As a charitable organization, We at GOW Foundation thank all our donors and supporters. We encourage people of goodwill to donate to our cause in the name of Gordon Oloo-Were, a professor who had a passion for education. Our mission is to spread the gift of education to every region in Kenya and use GOW Foundation, not just as a tool to provide young adults with educational opportunity, but also as a vehicle to promote peace, love and unity in Kenya.

GOW FAMILY

When there is a will, there is a way

When we accepted the calling to support Kenyan high students who come from families with financial challenges, we did not do so because we are rich, rather we took over this mission because we believe in our community joining hands with us to lift up others who are less fortunate.

Thank you for all your support and we’re looking forward to your support in helping us sponsor even more students.
