In 2019 GOW Foundation hit several major milestones -the Foundation has its first two high school graduates. We were made aware of a severe financial predicament facing Denis Otieno Nudi, a form 4 student at Osieko Secondary School. Nudi was facing the threat of being denied the opportunity to sit the all-important national exams, KCSE because he had fallen behind in paying his school fees.
We learned that Nudi owed his high school Ksh 40,000 ($400) in back tuition fees. Upon reviewing his situation and his potential of success, GOW Board of Directors approved an emergency GOW Scholarship Award for Nudi, giving him peace of mind to face KCSE and propelling him to pass the exams with an outstanding B grade.
Nudi is now eligible to attend one of the Kenyan national universities and giving him a path to a bright future.
GOW Foundation also sponsored Brenda Achieng Odhiambo, a form four student at Ulowa Secondary School and enabled her to sit her KCSE exams and successfully graduate high school.
